Online Safety in Roblox

We can only reiterate Roblox's guidance, and best practices relating to Adopt Me. You should visit Roblox directly for thorough tailored advice regarding online safety on Roblox.

Roblox Safety Features

Private Servers

Roblox offers the option for each experience to enable private servers. How accessible a private server is is down to the developers for the respective experience. Within Adopt Me, private servers are free to set up.

A private server lets you control who you can play with, so no random users can enter.

You can find our article on private servers here, which details how to set one up for yourself.

Account Restrictions

Account Restrictions is a mode within the Privacy Tab of your Roblox account settings. Upon enabling Account Restrictions, your account can only access appropriate experiences for all ages, and all forms of communication will be turned off.

Turning Account Restrictions on means that you can only play a select amount of games available for all ages. Adopt Me is also included, so you can still access the experience.

Restricting Communication

If you have turned Account Restrictions on, your chat messages will be turned off automatically.

However, if you still wish to play older age-rated games but want to refrain from speaking to anyone, you can turn your Communication settings off individually. You can head into the privacy tab of your Roblox settings and scroll down to the Communication section, where you can choose from each drop-down menu how you'd like to be communicated with.

By turning off your Communication settings, you will not be able to see players' messages in Adopt Me, and you will not be able to message them either. This means you can play on Public Servers without any disturbance. This will make it difficult to trade, but possible. Roleplay with other players will also be challenging, but different aspects of the game, such as pet raising, will be unaffected.

Reporting

While Adopt Me has two reporting options, which you can review here, we can only act on users within the Adopt Me experience. For consistency, it is also best to report users who violate Roblox's ToS to Roblox. You can do this through three methods.

  1. You can contact Roblox Support here, and on the contact form select the "Moderation" drop-down menu, and then "Report User Breaking Rules" on the secondary menu.
  2. You can also report users from their Roblox profile by selecting the Report Abuse button and filling out the Report form.

  3. If you spot the behavior occurring in-game, you can pull up the in-experience Roblox settings and head to the Report tab. Then you can navigate the report form and fill it out accordingly.

    Chat Filters

Roblox experiences undergo stringent chat filtering by standard, and Adopt Me is no exception. Roblox's system flags any inappropriate language; it will be tagged out. Given that Adopt Me caters to a diverse age group, certain words may be unexpectedly censored for various reasons. To prioritize the safety and well-being of children, numerous real names and numbers are blocked to prevent the sharing of personal information online.
